Waiting for the bus. Shopping for groceries. Going to school. We see our neighbors, but how well do we understand and connect with each other? Although we live side-by-side, our experiences  differ based on our social memberships. Parallel realities separated along demographic lines isolate cultural groups from each other. Uncommon Conversations will bring people from diverse backgrounds together around thought-provoking cultural topics that build a shared understanding of the whole community.

Using the Center’s signature approach, Gracious Space, these conversations engage participants in deep dialogue in a supportive and multicultural learning environment. Themes will explore intergenerational dynamics within immigrant and refugee families, ethnic and cultural identities across generations and within racial groups, and what it means to be a whole community.
