About the Recipients
Dale Nienow
Dale is known for helping people open up to deeper dialogue and new relationships that will move groups and communities forward on their compelling issues. His skills in creating positive environments where learning, dialogue, and planning can help people focus on their most meaningful work and move forward together, and has helped people work together across boundaries to include diverse perspectives, particularly those historically excluded. During his time at the Center for Ethical Leadership, Dale co-led the Kellogg Leadership for Community Change program on behalf of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and is one of the founders of the national Community Learning Exchange. As an accomplished strategist, agent of change, facilitator, and coach, his skills in reading organizations and designing plans for improvement has benefited a broad range of organizations and people across sectors.
He is co-editor of “The Collective Leadership Storybook: Weaving Strong Communities” and the monograph, “Kellogg Leadership for Community Change: Crossing Boundaries, Strengthening Communities" and is one of the primary authors of the book, “Courageous Collaboration with Gracious Space: From Small Openings to Profound Transformations.”
Retired, he enjoys spending time with his family and take meditative walking journeys.
Sean Goode
Sean is a speaker, facilitator, writer, executive coach, consultant and nonprofit leader who is driven by his mantra, “possibilities over problems,” which was born out of his experience growing up in overwhelmingly challenging circumstances. Prior to operating the coaching and consulting practice “Finding Goode,” he served as Chief Impact and Learning officer at the Seattle Foundation where he worked to move money back into the communities it was extracted from as an act of repair. Sean began that work after stewarding the now nationally recognized nonprofit, CHOOSE 180, where he worked to decriminalize youthful behavior and transform the very systems that have historically caused harmed to marginalized communities. Before leading this Human Rights award-winning organization Sean served as a chaplain in juvenile detention, championed gang and group intervention efforts, and worked to provide education and employment opportunities for youth in at-risk communities.
When he isn’t supporting leaders in leveraging their superpowers to ground in grace and grow in possibility or sharing his own personal journey of walking in the transformative power of grace with a diversity of audiences in both the private and public sector Sean can be found creating adventure with his amazing wife and two incredible children.
You and your guests are invited to celebrate our community leaders on August 15th! Join us as we celebrate and be inspired by their stories.
