Based on deep relationships, networks offer surprising and creative answers
when people take ownership of issues and offer their gifts for the greater good.
_

Working in networks is a cutting-edge approach to taking on challenges facing our society that are too big for a single organization or coalition to address. For the last decade, the Center has been at the forefront of building this capacity for collective leadership.

We guide community-based organizations and institutions in improving their relationship with the communities that they serve.
We apply our passion for community engagement and collective leadership by experimenting with network principles to support our communities.
We are learning is that the leadership that makes networks thrive is very different
than the leadership that makes traditional organizations successful.

The Center’s work is to help bridge these different leadership styles to advance the common good.

This is the structure of a traditional organization. This hierarchical structure relies on those at the top  to determine goals, objectives and tasks. People are organized to align the vision and the mission. This structure is helpful in delivering programs where the outcome is known.

This is the structure of a network. Power and decision-making authority is distributed amongst network members who develop relationships. The work is organized around the gifts and talents of those who take ownership for advancing the shared purpose. This structure is helpful for inviting in new voices and finding creative solutions.
