Summary: The Operations Support Specialist will support the Center for Ethical Leadership (CEL), the RISE Initiative and other CEL programs by performing duties that are needed for smooth business operations.
Who We Are: CEL cultivates leadership and the capacity to advance social change by supporting the individual, institutional and community transformation necessary to create healthy, just and inclusive communities. Our core approach is to convene people with diverse perspectives and invite them to reach across boundaries, build trust, tap into the collective wisdom and lead from their core values in service of the common good.
This Fall is an exciting time for the Center as we launch the Restorative, Inclusive School Environments (RISE) Initiative, a new school-community collaboration.
About the RISE Initiative
RISE Partners: Center for Ethical Leadership; South Shore PK-8 and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary (scholars, parents, teachers, school staff); Passionate community members (skilled in trauma, parental engagement, educators); Seattle Public School’s Department of Racial Equity Advancement (SPS); and King County Best Start for Kids (BSK).
RISE Goals: To utilize the BSK Trauma Informed and Restorative Practices grant to fund a co-created program to reach our shared goals and objectives in cultivating Restorative, Inclusive School Environments (RISE) to generate the necessary conditions for all students to feel safe, believe in themselves, and engage in learning. As one of our parent advocates said, “Imagine what education would look like if it was grounded in Gracious Space.”
RISE Approach: Our approach to transforming culture is community-based collective leadership which means we value ALL stakeholders to be part of the co-creation experience and plan to gather input and collaborate with our partners to design and implement RISE. Trauma informed strategies and CEL’s successful pedagogies for youth and community leadership development, restorative practices, and helping communities tap collective wisdom will act as a framework while being guided by SPS’s measurements and goals. Each year, we will hold a Community Learning Exchange to celebrate success and share actions, best practices, and ideas with one another. We would like restorative and inclusive practices to be a way of being in the schools – a part of each person. A culture of positive impact in the school and community.
