Conversation on Leadership & Race

Tuesday March 16th 11:30am-2:00pm at Casey Family Program Field Office, 1123 23rd Ave S. Seattle

The Center for Ethical Leadership is partnering with Leadership Learning Community (LLC), from Oakland CA, and other local partners to host this conversation.  Recently LLC launched a collaborative initiative called Leadership for a New Era. Participants in the March 16th conversation should read the paper produced by LLC in advance and be prepared to have conversation on the following questions:

• Does current leadership thinking and practice contribute to structural racism?
• Why are leadership strategies vital to achieving racial justice?
• What leadership development approaches support racial justice?
• What changes in our evaluation work will support racial justice?

Community Learning Exchange

This learning exchange will help participants understand how systems interconnect to impact people, families, and communities. What can we do to change systems? Participants will utilize local narratives to reframe work on poverty and educational equity. They will develop relationships and shape collective action to move people out of poverty and change systems. This work will ultimately contribute to developing an agenda to impact local and state policy work.
